Spark My Career from Curiosity with Gusto by Felix Harling

As part of my continuous learning I’ve participated in the openSAP course “SPARK – Ignite Your Personal Leadership Journey”. This course is currently only available for SAP internal colleagues.

The course start has coincided with the beginning of a new learning journey for myself as the new head of SAP Development Learning since October 1st 2017.

One of the last activity of this insightful SPARK course has been to create an infographic “to show in a creative and visual way the results of your reflection on your career exploration and the work you have been doing in your Personal Leadership Plan”.

The infographic above illustrates my main strengths, most important values and passions that I’ve identified based on the many activities along the five weeks of the course. The graphic also illustrates the career paths I’ve already experienced (“Innovation Facilitator”), the one I’ve just begun (“Team Lead”) and one I’m currently aiming at (“Future of Work Explorer”).

What did I learn during the creation of the infographic? That the rocket is a good metaphor for a growth mindset: The own strengths give me the energy to contribute to home, work, community, and self. The own values are at the core of what helps me to build and sustain relationships within and outside the company. Moreover, they are essential to support the growth of each team member. The passions will guide me to new targets.

What I’ve really liked in this course have been the insights shared in the videos, the abundance of additional resources that will be of high value even after the course, and the approach to develop a personal leadership plan step by step. Moreover, it has been very interesting to read the point of views of the other course participants along the different activities of each week.

I highly recommend to participate in the next edition of SPARK and hope that the course will be also available soon for professionals outside of SAP.

Now, it’s time to take action.

How does your career infographic look like?
